MUMBAI: The cricketing community was struck with grief with the passing away of the wife of Sandesh Paralkar, former captain of MIG Cricket Club and current skipper of Parel Sporting, on Saturday.
Paralkar's wife, Shailaja, breathed her last at 6 am, claimed by Covid-19. She was 52.
While Paralkar also tested positive for Covid-19, he was found asymptomatic and placed at the municipal quarantine centre in Shivaji Park.

Paralkar is a sub-engineer with the rainwater harvesting department of the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai. The 49-year-old, an opener, was in the Mumbai Ranji probables in 1999. He played for Shivaji Park Youngsters in local cricket.
"I spoke to him today morning. He played for MIG CC for two decades, and achieved a lot of success for us. He played in one tournament for us last season," MIG cricket secretary Amit Dani said.
