Farmer hacks wife to death in TN’s Thanjavur district
THANJAVUR: A 35-year-old farmer was arrested for hacking his wife to death in Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu on Sunday night.
Police identified the accused as Udhayarajan, who is a native of Kuruvikarambai village near Peravurani taluk. The victim has been identified as U Sasikala, 33.
Police said the couple had been married for 12 years and had no children. They frequently quarrelled over not having a child.
On Sunday evening, they fought again over the same issue, and Udhayarajan left the house in anger. He came back at 10pm.
Sasikala was watching TV and did not notice him return home. Udhayarajan was upset over the frequent fights and in a fit of rage, he hacked Sasikala with a sickle.
Hearing her cries, neighbours rushed to the house. However, she had died by then.
Based on Udhayarajan’s confession, the Peravurani police arrested him.
