The filmmaker and the producer will have to observe a 14-day isolation period mandated by the local government upon re-entering the country.

The New Zealand government had endorsed Covid-19 safety procedures for film and television production in the country. After NZ government's decision to allow shooting in the country, the cast and crew of Avatar 2 and Amazon's The Lord Of The Rings series can resume shooting. The production of the film and series was halted because of the coronavirus outbreak which resulted in an immediate near-global lockdown.

Avatar 2 is scheduled to release on December 17, 2021.
