The Covid-19 pandemic is spreading across the country like wildfire. The contagious disease has spared none - the rich and the poor, the famous and the ordinary citizens have been equally affected. Actress Mohena Kumari of ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai' fame, who played the titular role of Keerti Manish Goenka in the StarPlus show, has tested positive for Covid-19.
In addition to the 31-year-old actress, her husband, Suyyesh Rawat, the son of Uttarakhand Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj, whom she tied the knot with last year in October, has also tested positive. Not only Kumari’s husband, but her mother-in-law, sister-in-law and others in the family have also tested positive for Covid-19.

The family is currently hospitalised. “Yes, the news is true, seven from our family have been tested positive for Covid-19, but we are doing fine now,” Kumari told ETimes in an exclusive interview. “Right now we are in the hospital. My brother-in-law's latest report has come negative so he's fine now. There are people too who have been infected but they are from the sanstha,” said the TV star.

Kumari said that none of the family members have shown a ‘major symptom’. She clarified that all their symptoms have been mild and that they initially thought it must be the result of a change in weather. “It is our second day in the hospital, everyone is showing improvement and we will be fine soon. We are in quarantine now and getting our treatment done,” added the starlet.

Kumari also said that she is aware of the problems the migrants in the country are facing and that they are not in a position to complain as there are larger issues to be looked at. “I also feel lucky that my father-in-law has been doing so much to help the migrants through his sanstha. We are trying to help them in the best possible way. We will humbly deal with this,” Kumari said.

Kumari is the second star from the Indian TV industry to test positive for the novel coronavirus. Indian actor Purab Kohli, who also starred in ‘Rock On! 2’, was the first TV star to test positive for Covid-19.

Singer Kanika Kapoor was the first Indian celeb to be tested positive for coronavirus, followed by film producer Karim Morani.
