Gujarat adds 425 Covid-19 positive cases, 29 deaths in 24 hours

Gujarat on the fourth consecutive day recorded 400-plus Covid-19 positive cases in 24 hours with 415 on Tuesday, taking the total tally to 17,632.

AHMEDABAD: Gujarat, on the fourth consecutive day, recorded 400-plus Covid-19 positive cases in the past 24 hours with 415 on Tuesday, taking the total tally to 17,632.
The cases included 279 from Ahmedabad, 58 from Surat and 32 from Vadodara. With 15 new cases, Gandhinagar district’s total cases reached to 300, third in the case tally of the state after Ahmedabad (12,773), Surat (1,717) and Vadodara (1,106).
The state’s death toll reached 1092 with 29 deaths in 24 hours ending 5 pm on Tuesday.
The deaths of Covid-19 positive patients included 24 from Ahmedabad – signifying average one death every hour – along with two from Aravalli and one each from Surat, Mehsana and Junagadh districts. It was the first death of the district for Junagadh.
In a first, the state discharged 1000-plus Covid-19 positive patients in a matter of 24 hours with the figure of 1114, or 46 patients every hour. Out of discharged patients, Ahmedabad alone recorded 1019. Surat recorded discharge of 32 patients, followed by 20 from Sabarkantha and nine from Vadodara district. Number of total discharged patients in the state is now at 11,894.
Out of total 17,632 cases in the state, 4,646 (26.3%) are active, 11,894 (67.5%) patients are discharged and 1,092 (6.2%) patients have died.
Analysis of the past four days – in which the state has recorded 400-plus cases daily – reveal that against 1688 new cases, 3285 or double the number got discharged. In the past four days, the state has also recorded the death of 1002 Covid-19 patients.
Gujarat carried out 5352 tests in 24 hours, taking the total to 2.21 lakh tests to find new Covid-19 patients.
