TN man arrested for downloading, watching child pornography

MADURAI: A 34-year-old daily wage earner from Pudukkottai district of Tamil Nadu was arrested on Wednesday for downloading and watching child pornography. The Melur all-women police in Madurai district arrested the accused after receiving an alert from a team in New Delhi.
The accused has been identified as V Malaisamy, 34, of Pitchaikalanpatti Pudukkottai district. He married a woman from Kottampatti in Madurai district four years ago and has a child.He was working in Madurai district as a construction labourer.
A police source said that Malaisamy had been watching child pornography since February 2019. The National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children tracked him as he downloaded and watched prohibited content on social networking sites.
The mobile number he was using was registered in his father-in-law’s address. The team from Delhi passed on information to the Melur police.
On Wednesday, a complaint was filed by anti-human trafficking wing head constable Kavitha. A case was registered, and Malaisamy was booked under sections of the Pocso Act and IT Act, 2008.
He was remanded in judicial custody.
