Much like many in the country, Bollywood stars like Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma have outraged against the death of a pregnant elephant in Kerala after she ate cracker-filled fruit.
As the initial reports of the incident suggested that the elephant was fed the fruit, film celebrities, many of who are known to advocate animal rights, on Wednesday took to their social media platforms to express their anger and appeal to fans to sign a petition to demand punishment for the alleged person.
Since late evening, however, reports have emerged quoting the forest officials that the elephant could have eaten explosives meant to kill boars.
Aashiqui actor Rahul Roy, who had won the inaugural season of Bigg Boss, is all set to make a film on migrant labourers and the hardships they are facing.
Titled The Walk, it will be shot once the lockdown is lifted and the shoots resume. Rahul said, “I have roped in Nitin Gupta, who directed me in ‘Death Of An Ambassador’, to helm this project. ‘The Walk’ is a story of human trial and the heart-wrenching situation that migrant workers are facing. It revolves around two men - Roshan and Azaan - and their journey from Mumbai to Uttar Pradesh. I play Roshan in the film.”
He added, “The coronavirus pandemic has put us in an unprecedented situation for which nobody was prepared. While many of us are in the comfort of our homes, it’s the migrant workers who are suffering the most. Their survival depends on their daily earnings. Now, the pandemic has taken that away from them. ‘The Walk’ shows how hardship and pain are masked by the simplicity of life and how Roshan and Azaan get home. Though the film focuses on their journey, through their eyes, you get a glimpse of the life of all migrant workers, who are trying to return to the sanctuary of their home.”
Gully Boy fame Siddhant Chaturvedi has showcased yet another talent by releasing a new single titled "Dhoop". Siddhant has not only crooned the song, but also written its lyrics which are is all about finding the sunshine in these tough times. He shared the song on his social media platforms. He wrote, “#DHOOP out now! @dawgeek @excelmovies. Put your Headphones and Sunglasses on, It’s a vibe."
Irrfan Khan's wife, Sutapa Sikdar wrote a heartfelt post on her social media platforms, remembering the late actor. Sharing a picture of Irrfan, she wrote, “Thank you soooo much I hear you ...yes I know it's from you to me and it touched my body and soul.. Between the two realms we have the rain connecting us..”
Actor Bhumi Pednekar posted a video on her social media platforms urging the entire nation to fight the COVID-19 pandemic through an anti-spitting campaign that aims to educate people.
Bhumi, in the video, says, “We have to defeat coronavirus and everyone has to join hands. Leave the habit of spitting. We have to save the country. Currently, our country is under the threat of Corona and the fatal disease spreads even by spitting!” She adds, “The way we all have come together to get associated with the Toilet campaign and pledged to make the country clean! Similarly, let's pledge to make the country Corona free, by avoiding to spit here and there.”

Casting director Krish Kapur, known for his work in Rhea Chakraborty-starrer Jalebi, has died due to brain haemorrhage. He was 28. Kapur’s maternal uncle Sunil Bhalla confirmed the news to indianexpress.com. He said the casting director passed away on May 31.
Krish Kapur’s friend and wrestler Sangram Singh mourned his death in a tweet. He wrote, “You left us really soon, brother. But you have left behind beautiful memories. I hope you are happy wherever you are. May your soul rest in peace.” He shared a picture of himself with Kapur.
Versatile actor Neena Gupta is celebrating her birthday today. The National Award winning actor started her acting journey in 1982 with Aadharshila. The National School of Drama alumnus saw career resurgence for starring as a middle-aged pregnant woman in the comedy-drama Badhaai Ho. She further won hearts with films like Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan and Panga. Gupta was last seen in Amazon Prime Video's web-series, Panchayat.

Veteran filmmaker Basu Chatterjee, one of the champions of middle-off-the-road cinema, has died due to age-related health issues. He was 93. Chatterjee died in his sleep at his Santa Cruz home, filmmaker Ashoke Pandit confirmed to indianexpress.com. His funeral will take place in the afternoon at Santa Cruz crematorium.
Sunny Leone, who flew to the US along with her husband Daniel Weber and three children last month, is waiting to return to Mumbai amid riots over George Floyd's death.
In an interview with Mid Day she said, "There are riots everywhere and rampant looting in stores. So far, we haven't heard of looting in homes. At this point, we can only pray that it doesn't happen. I feel sorry for his (George Floyd) family and every person who has been at the receiving end of racism. It's time we treat each other with humanity.”

Karan Johar shared a video on Instagram talking about the importance of water conservation in the run up to the World Environment Day that falls on June 5.
In the video, Karan said, “What’s my one big wish for Earth? Well this is something that I have tried to implement with my children (Yash and Roohi) is – Water Conservation, preservation of water resources. We tend to take that for granted, we tend to misuse the power we have, the power of water.”
He added, “So, shut your taps, open your minds and make sure you conserve water which is a hugely critical and important resource for our beautiful planet Earth and lets make sure that we decide that our Earth is our home. A relative of Nawazuddin Siddiqui has filed a sexual harassment complaint against the actor’s youngest brother Minazuddin Siddiqui at a police station in New Delhi.
According to the complainant, she was a minor when the alleged abuse happened for the first time, and it continued until three months before she got married in 2017.
In a telephonic conversation with indianexpress.com, the complainant said, “I was nine years old when Minazuddin chachu (uncle) started behaving weirdly with me. The storm is expected to make a landfall this afternoon close to Alibag, just over 100 km of Mumbai.
