Government seeks help to rein in quarantine violators, asks citizens to report violations

Bengaluru: Karnataka has sought the help of citizens, resident welfare associations and commercial establishments in reporting about violation of home-quarantine norms by quarantined people.
Chief secretary TM Vijay Bhaskar has issued an order highlighting specific responsibilities of people in identifying and reporting quarantine violators. All shops, commercial establishments, offices, factories, malls, religious places, hostels, etc have been asked to check for quarantine stamps on the hands of all their customers and visitors before they enter the premises.

“They should inform the police at telephone number 100 about violations,” the order says. The government has also asked RWAs to report to the police if there is any quarantine norm violation in the neighbourhood.

257 new cases, 4 deaths
The state reported 257 new cases and four Covid-19-related deaths on Thursday. The total number of Covid-positive cases in the state is 4,320 and the death toll is 57. Among the deceased, two women are from Bengaluru, aged 60 and 65. Both were diagnosed with SARI. Another deceased is a 44-year-old man from Gadag who was hospitalised after he had symptoms of ILI. The fourth person who died is an 83-year-old woman from Davanagere. Of the new cases reported, 92 are from Udupi and 88 from Raichur.
