3 constables, ASHA worker, postman get Covid-19 in Raichur

HUBBALLI: Three police constables attached to the West police station of Raichur city tested positive for Covid-19 along with a postman and an ASHA worker.
Speaking to reporters on Friday, Raichur deputy commissioner R Venkatesh confirmed that of the 88 confirmed cases reported on Thursday, three constables deputed at the quarantine centre established at the University of Agriculture got infected.
A postman who was working in the limits of the university campus got infected, and an ASHA worker contracted the disease from her brother who had returned from Bengaluru, said the DC.

The West police station has been sanitised and primary and secondary contacts of the constables are being traced. Complaints to be lodged at the West police station will be received at the Traffic police station for time being, he said.
He said 75 Covid-19 cases were reported from Devadurg taluk, 9 cases from Raichur, one case each from Manavi and Sirwar and two cases were reported from Lingasugur taluk. A total five new containment zones have been created in the district, to contain the spread of the disease, increasing the total number of containment zones to 19, he added.
The deputy commissioner added that of the 75 cases reported from Devadurg, 46 cases were from Kottadoddi and 29 cases from a quarantine centre established at the Degree College on Nagargund Road.
