A multiracial family in Washington State says they were confronted in a parking lot, then terrorized in the woods during a camping trip, where armed antagonists accused them of being “Antifa.”

KOMO News reports the family, not identified by name, said they were driving through Forks, Wash., in their converted bus Wednesday when the the alleged incident occurred.

The trouble reportedly started when the family of four stopped at a camping supplies store to load up on essentials. When they left the shop, an armed group packed into roughly eight vehicles was waiting outside and asked if they were aligned with Antifa. The foursome said they assured those folks they were not associated with the controversial anti-fascism movement, then pulled out of the parking and headed to their destination roughly five miles outside of town.

The Peninsula Daily News said the family consisted of a husband and wife, their 16-year-old daughter and the husband’s mother,

According to the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office, the family said they were followed out of the parking lot by roughly half the group that had confronted them.

As they were setting up their camp, the quartet heard gunshots and chainsaws in their vicinity. The uncomfortable campers packed up and tried to leave, but discovered downed trees were blocking the roadway. That’s when they called 911 for an escort around 6:30 p.m.

While waiting, they reportedly came across a foursome of high school students who helped them clear a path.

Police have no suspects and are hoping security tape from the camping store where the family was first approached might hold some clues as to what happened.
