PARK TWP. — Emergency crews are working two emergencies unfolding at Holland State Park — a missing 6-year-old boy and a person who they fear drowned in Lake Michigan.

Just before 5 p.m. June 6, the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office responded to Holland State Park in reference to a missing 17-year-old boy.

Witnesses said two brothers from Grand Rapids, ages 17 and 19, were swimming off the beach and began to struggle in the water. The older brother began to swim back to shore and was thrown a life ring by witnesses and was safely assisted to shore. The younger brother was last seen struggling in the water 40-50 yards off shore.

Police are withholding identification at this time.

While on scene investigating, police were advised of a missing 6-year-old boy. He was reported last seen in Lake Michigan in waist-deep water. At this time the boy’s whereabouts are unknown. Iain Isaiah Rowe is a white male slightly over 4 feet tall with blond hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a blue and white vertically striped swimsuit. If anyone has seen Iain, you are asked to contact the sheriff's office at 800-249-0911.

Lake conditions at the time had waves 4-6 feet in height with a reported rip current by witnesses. Red flags were flying at the time of both incidents. At this time, the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office with the assistance of the US Coast Guard are actively searching for both subjects on land and water.

At this point it is believed the incidents are unrelated and further information will be provided as the search continues.

Shortly after 9 p.m., law enforcement have asked people at the beach to evacuate. Both the beach and park are being closed.
