LUCKNOW: In a major operation, the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Uttar Pradesh Police began a probe into a multi-crore scam on Monday.
It recovered 178 bikes carrying stickers of Garvit promoters from western UP districts.
EOW said that as many 72 bikes were recovered from Ghaziabad, 50 from Muzaffarnagar, 22 from Hapur, 21 from Meerut and 13 from Bagpat. These were purchased by Garvit Innovators Promoters Limited.

Sanjay Bhati, the owner of the firm had duped people under the garb of a “multi-level marketing scheme”called ‘BikeBot’, which promised to double people's investment within a year.
Bhati is also a former BSP leader. Police commissioner of Noida had asked the DGP (Headquarters) for an EOW probe into the bike bot scam in February. The EOW had started the probe in March while due to lockdown it had stopped the investigations.
The ED had carried out searches in connection with the scam. Later, the case was handed over to EOW.
“A team comprising five inspectors under ASP Meerut sector has been working on the case since March,” DG EOW Rajendra Pal Singh said,.
While ED will continue to probe the money-laundering part, EOW will probe the criminal part.
Promoters of BikeBot have duped hundreds of innocents in Rajasthan, West Bengal, Delhi, Maharashtra, Punjab, and Haryana. The EOW is also interrogating the 13 people arrested in connection with the scam.
