Telangana: Pastor killed by son in Mancherial

A 40-year-old pastor was killed by his 19-year-old son at the former's house in Rapalli village of Hajipur mandal in Mancherial district of Telangana. Police said that the accused was angry with his father for not taking care of the family and constantly questioning him for not doing any work.

HYDERABAD: A 40-year-old pastor was killed by his 19-year-old son at the former's house at Rapalli village of Hajipur mandal in Mancherial district of Telangana. Police said that the accused was angry with his father for not taking care of the family and constantly questioning him for not doing any work.
The victim, Durgam Prasad, 40, was a pastor at a church in Rapalli village. Prasad's wife and their two sons have been staying at Khanapur for 15 years as she works at a local hospital as a nurse.
On Tuesday night Prasad's elder son Pranav Rao, 19, an engineering student, came to visit his father at Rapalli.
"During the early hours of Wednesday, Pranav attacked his father with an axe and killed him on the spot. Prasad suffered an injury on his throat," Mancherial DCP D Uday Kumar Reddy said.
After committing the murder, Pranav went to Hajipur police station and surrendered before the cops. During interrogations, Pranav confessed to have killed his father due to personal problems. "Pranav said that his father had differences with his mother and the two sons. According to the accused, Prasad was financially and emotionally not supporting them despite repeated requests," Mancherial Rural Inspector Y Krishna Kumar said.
Prasad is survived by his wife and two sons. A murder case was registered against Pranav under section 302 of the IPC. He has been arrested.
