UP Covid-19 tally crosses 13,000 mark, 503 cases in 24 hours

The Covid-19 tally for UP crossed the 13,000 mark with 503 new entries in the past 24 hours. Kanpur Nagar recorded the highest number of cases on Saturday. With 50 new patients, the district total reached 686.

LUCKNOW: The Covid-19 tally for UP crossed the 13,000 mark with 503 new entries in the past 24 hours. Kanpur Nagar recorded the highest number of cases on Saturday. With 50 new patients, the district total reached 686.
Gautam Buddh Nagar came close with 49 new cases, taking the overall figure to 913. Lucknow followed with 44 cases, taking the total to 576.
A look at the bulletin revealed that Jaunpur became the first district in eastern UP to cross the 400 mark with nine new cases.
Bijnore became the 19th district in the state to cross the 200 mark while Ambedkarnagar became the 41st district to cross the 100 mark.
Principal secretary, health and family welfare, Amit Mohan Prasad said that the total number of active cases in the state reached 4,858 on Saturday. He also said that 266 persons were discharged, taking the total number of recovered to 7,875.
“The figures suggest that the recovery rate in UP is about 60%,” he said.
The state also recorded 20 deaths, taking the total number of Covid-19 casualties to 385. As per the state Covid-19 bulletin, Meerut recorded five deaths while two deaths each were recorded in Agra, Lucknow, Kanpur and Siddhartnagar.
Prasad said that currently 4,868 people are in isolation wards in various hospitals. He also said that Asha workers were constantly keeping a tab on the health of workers by visiting homes.
“We are being informed if symptoms have been found in any person. Till now 15,91,305 workers have been surveyed by Asha workers, out of which 1,413 people have been found to have some symptoms,” he said.
Of the new cases, a number of districts saw double digit entries including Ghaziabad (20), Muzaffarnagar (19), Hapur (18), Bulandshahr (18), Baghpat (17), Etawah (16), Ghazipur (16), Varanasi (16), Agra (14), Kannauj(13), Moradabad (11) and Aligarh (10).
