Earthquake Of 5.8-Magnitude Hits India’s Western State

An earthquake of magnitude 5.8 struck 122 kilometres north-northwest of Rajkot in India’s western state of Gujarat at 8.13 p.m. local time on Sunday, the National Centre for Seismology (NCS) said.

The epicentre was believed to be in the Kutch area of the state.

So far there are no reports of loss of human life or damage to property.

State Chief Minister, Vijay Rupani, had an immediate telephone conversation with senior officials of Rajkot, Kutch and Patan districts following the tremor and got information about the situation there, said his office.
