Gold worth Rs 77 lakh stolen from locked house in Tamil Nadu
THIRUVARUR: Unidentified men looted 220 sovereigns of gold jewellery, worth Rs 70 lakh, and Rs 7 lakh in cash from a locked house near Koradachery in Thiruvarur district of Tamil Nadu in the early hours on Monday.
According to police, Sarbudeen, 34, of Athikadai village near Koradachery was working in a Gulf country. Recently, he returned home. He was residing with his wife, two children and two sisters.
On Sunday evening, he and others in the family went to thier relative’s home in the same village for a function.
When they returned home on Monday morning, they found the front door of the home broken open.
They found that the lockers of the almirahs were also broken open. Valuables were missing from them.
On information, the Koradacheri police rushed to the spot and conducted an inquiry. Forensic experts were pressed into service.
The police registered a case. Three special police teams have been formed to nab the culprits.
