JSW Foundation has converted its Jindal Sanjeevani Multi-Specialty Hospital into full-fledged Covid care hospital amid rising cases in Karnataka’s Ballari district.
The number of cases linked to the JSW Steel plant at Vijayanagar in Ballari district has been on the rise, touching 146 while primary contacts placed under quarantine stood at 633.
The hospital has already started treating asymptomatic or moderate cases of Covid in the area. All other premorbid and critical patients are being referred to the District Hospital for treatment.
The 82-bedded Jindal Sanjeevani Multi-Specialty Hospital includes 75 regular beds and seven ICU beds. It is equipped with biomedical equipment such as ventilators, pacemakers, dialysis machine and patient monitoring devices to treat mild to moderate Covid patients.
The overall expenses incurred on the patients are also being absorbed by the hospital. The Ballari District Administration oversees the hospital’s functioning.
The JSW Foundation has also offered to the district administration to covert its OP Jindal Vocational Training Centre into a Covid centre to provide additional capacity for treating patients with mild symptoms.
It has already been converted into an isolation centre for suspected Covid cases. The JSW Foundation is awaiting the approval from Ballari district administration to convert into a Covid centre.
