Wardha man defeats Covid but loses lung battle; two die in Vidarbha
NAGPUR/AKOLA/YAVATMAL/CHANDRAPUR: Seventy-four Covid cases, including two deaths one each from Nagpur and Yavatmal, were reported from across Vidarbha on Wednesday. This takes the patient tally to 3,266 including 110 casualties.
A 63-year-old Wardha resident, who had recovered from Covid-19 during his treatment at a private hospital, died due to lung disease in Secunderabad on Monday.
He had tested positive on May 25, during treatment for the lung disease in the hospital. After 14 days, he tested negative. After he was detected positive, district administration has sealed Sudampuri area where he resided. His 17 close contact were also tested, but all are negative. The man was shifted to non-Covid ward in the hospital when he tested negative recently, but he died on Monday. His last rites were performed in Hyderabad on Tuesday after his relatives reached there.
A 60-year-old man, who returned from Akola and was admitted in Yavatmal GMCH Covid Hospital, died on Wednesday. This is ninth death in Yavatmal.
A 64-year-old Kanhan resident’s body was sent to IGGMCH Nagpur where his samples tested positive.
Nagpur district topped the day’s chart with 31 new cases followed by Akola at 19 and Amravati 14. The lone death in Yavatmal was its only casualty of the day while no death was reported from Akola for the first time since June 10.
In some respite, Wardha, Buldhana and Washim didn’t register any new Covid case while one positive patient each came from Gondia and Gadchiroli beside Yavatmal.
In Akola, 19 positive cases were reported from four different localities. Total 31 patients were discharged, of which 17 went in home isolation while 14 decided to stay at Covid care centre for not having home isolation facilities at their respective residences. Total 329 active cases are being treated here at present.

In Gondia, a man from Tirora tehsil was found Covid-19 positive. Total active cases are now 33 in the district. Reports of 56 samples are awaited.
In Gadchiroli, a man who came from Mumbai tested positive on June 17. Belonging to Desaiganj tehsil, he was in institutional quarantine. Total cases in Gadchiroli are 52, including 40 recovered and 11 active cases.
In Bhandara, five cases were reported and all were returnees from Mumbai and Delhi.
In Chandrapur, two more positive patients were found during the last 24 hours taking the Covid-19 tally to 54 in the district. A 32-year-old man had come from Gurgaon near Delhi on June 12 and was placed in institutional quarantine. He developed symptoms on June 15 and his swab was taken the following day. His report came positive late on Tuesday night.
A 22 year-old youth, who had returned from Mumbai on June 12 to Gangalwadi in Bramhapuri tehsil, test positive on Wednesday evening. He was in institutional quarantine. He developed symptoms on June 15 and was shifted to Covid care centre.
