BHUBANESWAR: As many as 14 railway stations of the
East Coast Railway (ECoR) have been awarded with ISO 14001:2015 certification for environmental management system and providing facilities to the passengers in a clean and green environment.
These stations were Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Puri under Khurda Road division, Sambalpur, Balangir, Titilagarh and Kesinga stations under
Sambalpur division and seven stations including Rayagada under Waltair division.
Besides, production units like Carriage Repair Workshop at Mancheswar, Electric Loco Shed at Angul and Visakhapatnam and Diesel Loco Shed at Visakhapatnam have also received the ISO 14001:2015 certification earlier.
The ECoR has engaged a consultancy firm for auditing the green facilities at these stations. The agency had also audited mechanical cleaning, quality cleaning, chemical and other facilities to provide a hygienic and clean environment at the station. “We are trying to get
ISO certification for more stations under ECoR jurisdiction,” said the ECoR official statement.
These 14 stations have all passenger facilities like VIP lounges, waiting rooms, AC and non-AC retiring rooms and dormitories, refreshing areas, hygiene food facilities for passengers. Besides, waste management including segregation and disposal of waste have also been included in the ISO audit, said the ECoR sources.
