At 65.7%, recoveries up in Vidarbha, two deaths in Akola

The number of recovered Covid-19 patients was more than the number of new cases for second day in a row in Vidarbha on Thursday which could be termed as a positive sign in recent times. Total 90 new cases were detected in Vidarbha against 113 patients discharged in a day. Out of them, 77 were from Nagpur.

NAGPUR: The number of recovered Covid-19 patients was more than the number of new cases for second day in a row in Vidarbha on Thursday which could be termed as a positive sign in recent times. Total 90 new cases were detected in Vidarbha against 113 patients discharged in a day. Out of them, 77 were from Nagpur.
Total Covid-19 cases in the region reached 3,356.
These include 2,205 recovered and discharged, and 112 deaths.
Two deaths were reported from Akola on Thursday. A 57-year-old woman from Karanja Lad in Washim district, who was admitted on June 16, died during treatment. Second death was of a 77-year-old man from Akola city — who was admitted on June 11 and was critical since then. Both died on the midnight of June 17. While the woman was having severe comorbid conditions, the elderly man was a patient of cardiovascular disease. Akola also reported 14 new cases. Total cases in Akola have reached 1,106, including 724 recovered and 58 deaths. Recovery rate of Akola is 65.45% despite of higher number of cases.
Nagpur continued to record more than 30 cases, but recovery also witnessed a major spike on Thursday. With 46 from GMCH, 30 from IGGMCH and one from AIIMS Nagpur — total 77 patients recovered and were discharged as per protocol. With 767 out of 1,142 patients recovered, Nagpur’s recovery rate is 67.16%.
AMRAVATI: The district is just five short of the 400-mark as 13 new positive cases on Thursday took its Covid-19 count to 395. Badnera, the top hotspot in the district, accounted for four of the day’s 13 cases to take its own count to 48, eight more than Masanganj, which has not recorded any new case since June 13. The Marwadipura locality in Badnera saw a 55-year-old man and a 10-year-old boy from a family testing positive. The boy’s father has tested positive earlier.

A 19-year-old boy from Mhada Colony in New Town, Badnera, and a 42-year-old man from Jainagar on bypass road, who both work in a medical shop in Badnera, tested positive. In the evening, a 54-year-old man from Badnera Old City tested positive.
Bhaji Bazar locality in the walled city here today posted its first case when a 19-year-old youth, who has been ill for last three days, tested positive. He himself had walked to Covid Hospital to give his samples.
Kirannagar lane no. 2 also posted its first patient today when a 22-year-old youth, who used to roam a lot with his friends during lockdown, finally tested positive today, putting AMC health team on toes for his contact tracing.
Two cases came today from rural parts to take rural’s count to 34.
A 33-year-old female from Rohankhed under Shirkhed police station tested positive. Her history is being traced. Similarly, a 39-year-old man from Teosa quarantine centre too tested positive.
The evening saw SRPF Camp recording its fourth case through a 34-year-old jawan while a 16 years old boy gave Sabanpura its fifth case.
Two males aged 58 and 42 from Hariom Colony in Camp area and a nearby locality respectively tested positive to mark the entry of virus there.
Now , the Covid ward in Super Speciality Hospital here has 106 of the total 111 active cases while five are in Nagpur. The number of discharged patients has reached 262. No patient was discharged till the evening today.
YAVATMAL: Nine new patients were recorded in Yavatmal on Thursday. On other hand, one already admitted has recovered and discharged from the isolation ward of GMC. The today’s admission break up is 4 each from Pusad and Darwha while one is from Ner. In last 24 hours, 171 reports were received while 24 swab reports are awaited.
CHANDRAPUR: One more person was found positive in Awalgaon in Bramhapuri on Thursday taking the total of Covid-19 patients in Chandrapur to 55. This 25-year-old youth had arrived from Mumbai with three others. Two of them had alighted the train at Pulgaon in Wardha district. The third companion was the youth from Gangalwadi who was detected positive earlier. This youth was kept in institutional quarantine at a school in village and later was admitted at Covid care centre in Bramhapuri. His sample was collected on June 17 and positive result arrived on Thursday. Out of total 55 patients, 26 have recovered and number of active patients now stands at 29.
WARDHA: A 67-year-old man, who came to Sawangi from Akola for treatment, was confirmed positive on Wednesday night. The man had came to Acharya Vinoba Bhave Rural Hospital, Sawangi, on June 16. As he was showing symptoms, he was kept in isolation and his swab was sent for testing. His report came positive. Since last five days, there was no positive case in Wardha.
GONDIA: No new case was reported today from Gondia district after six days of continuous cases. Samples of all tests have returned negative today. Reports of 82 samples are awaited.
BULDHANA: Ten new cases were reported from Buldhana in last two days. Total 14 patients were discharged from here on June 18. With this Buldhana’s total case count is 143, with 95 of them discharged and five deaths. Recovery rate of Buldhana is 66%. Washim reported eight new cases in last two days, and two were discharged on June 18.
