AGRA: At least two persons were killed after getting crushed under a concrete beam which fell off 30-foot-high pillars of an under-construction flyover in Etah on Friday evening.
The mammoth slab came crashing on a pick-up truck at a busy highway of NH-91 at 7.30pm near Chachena village of
Malawan police limits.
Police and the medical team rushed at the incident spot and recovered two dead men trapped under concrete debris.
Speaking to TOI, SP crime Etah Rahul Kumar said, "The reason behind the concrete beam collapse has to be investigated, but we found no safety measures at the construction site. The project is being run by Agra based PNC Infra Tech."
PNC Infra Tech chairman is Pradeep Jain. His younger brother Naveen Jain is the mayor of Agra city.
"Our team have extracted two bodies of men, who ferrying cattle fodder in a pick-up truck, but unfortunately were crushed under several ton weighing concrete beam which collapsed," said officer Rahul Kumar.
By the time this report was filed, rescue teams were searching for any possible person trapped under the collapsed structure.
According to police, at least five men including labourers working at construction site were injured.
Sources claimed, that NH-91 is four lane project which will connect Delhi-Kanpur via Aligarh.
