Thane Municipal Corporation has been urgently scouting for at least seven plots to construct new crematoriums
THANE: Residents near crematoriums in the city are complaining of breathing problems and stench as a huge amount of plastic is being burnt with corpses as part of ICMR protocol for Covid-19.
There have been nearly 175 Covid deaths and most, especially those near dedicated corona treatment hospitals like Jawaharbaug facility, get corpses daily. An official said the corpses are wrapped in plastic.
Khartan road residents complained of fumes billowing out of low chimneys after each cremation.
A civic official said they will analyse the situation.
