The Lucknow University Associated College Teachers' Association (LUACTA) has threatened to boycott undergraduate and postgraduate examinations if the university did not postpone it in view of rising Covid-19 cases. LUACTA has also written to CM Yogi Adityanath.
Earlier, a section of students had also made a similar demand. Examinations are scheduled in July and August.
LUACTA president Prof Manoj Pandey said, "It would not be possible to follow safety norms while carrying out examination process for over 1.5 lakh students who are not only from the city but also from other parts of the state."
"From frisking students to handling of answer copies and invigilation will be a challenge," he said, adding that three LU teachers had contracted infection so far.
LU spokesman Durgesh Srivastava said, "The decision to announce examination has been taken after government's direction."
