Kangana Ranaut, a Manali girl who came to Mumbai with a big dream, made her debut with Mahesh Bhatt's Gangster in 2006, and there has been no looking back ever since for the star. Over the years, she has featured in several noteworthy films including Fashion (2008), Tanu Weds Manu (2011), Queen (2014), Rangoon (2017) and Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi (2019). The Bollywood actor is known for choosing unique, strong roles with each project.

So, we've seen her walk red carpets in everything from luxurious lehengas and tailored pantsuits to sweet, princessy gowns and edgy cut-out dresses. Today, we're taking you into the space that houses all of Ranaut's couture: her walk-in closet. The Rangoon star moved into her Mumbai high-rise in Santacruz back in 2013, and asked interior designer Richa Bahl to help her design the space. In 2015, Kangana Ranaut gave Vogue India a tour inside her wardrobe, and picked out her favourite pieces from in there. Here's what you missed.

Have you seen Kangana Ranaut's all-white closet?

One look inside Kangana Ranaut's wardrobe is enough for fans to understand that she deeply resonated with Carrie Bradshaw's quote from Sex And The City, “I like my money right where I can see it: hanging in my closet”. Though the rest of Ranaut's home is full of vibrant colours, painted plates and quirky accessories, her closet champions shades of white. However, the glossy marble floors, which create a geometric pattern in ivory and shocking yellow, tie this space in with the aesthetic of the rest of her home. In the middle of walk-in closet sits is a small island table, again in white, with a contrasting, dark brown top surface, which holds some of her most prized accessories, including the reflector sunglasses she wore as Tanuja Trivedi in Tanu Weds Manu (2011).

On one side of the walk-in closet sits a series of ivory cupboards with sleek black handles, as well as those with translucent glass doors. If you take a closer look, you'll spot that the insides of these closets feature dark wooden racks on top, with space for Ranaut to hang her essentials. Another corner of the room, concealed by frosty glass windows, houses a shelf for the actor's collection of caps, and multiple drawers in different shapes and sizes for more accessories and jewellery.

These are Kangana Ranaut's favourite items in her closet

While giving Vogue India a peek inside her walk-in closet in 2015, Kangana Ranaut picked out some of her favourites from her wardrobe. First up was a grey Burberry overcoat that she bought in London, which she loves wearing with skinny jeans, big sunnies, and a low messy bun. Next, the actor plucked out her shimmering orange Tom Ford dress which topped trending charts when she wore it for a success party for her film. Fun fact: the dress also earned a nod of approval from Beyoncé, and Ranaut shared her dismay at not being able to repeat the look, because it became so popular.

Another precious piece in Kangana Ranaut closet is her pair of white sneakers, which are a little worse for the wear. The reason? The star wore these comfy H&M kicks all the time while shooting Queen, which is why they hold a special space in her heart. Another element in her closet that was a part of a character is her Dior sunglasses. Saving the best for last, Ranaut also gave us a peek at her very first luxury buy, a crimson Moschino dress she spent all her money on, because it was love at first sight.
