NEW DELHI: In a chilling reminder to the murder of an 88-year-old woman at her Safdurjung Enclave residence on Saturday night, an 80-year-old man was found dead outside his house in east Delhi’s Laxmi Nagar on Monday morning. His house was ransacked and robbed as well, police said.
The victim, identified by police as K P Aggarwal, used to live alone after his wife’s death nine years ago and own a home appliance service centre at the ground floor of the house in Laxmi Nagar.

It is a suspected case of smothering, police said, adding that the incident took place on Sunday night.
No sign of forced entry, but valuables missing: Cops
Jasmeet Singh, DCP (East), said police got a call around 10.30am from Agarwal’s neighbours. “We’ve registered a case of murder based on circumstantial evidence. The exact cause of death will be ascertained after an autopsy,” he said.
There was no injury mark on his body, though there seemed to have been internal hemorrhages due to smothering, according to police. The possibility of more than one person involved in the attack is being probed and a list of people who had visited Agarwal in the past few days is being prepared, police said.

Preliminary investigations revealed that there was no forced entry into the house, but almirahs were broke open and valuables were missing, police said.
Agarwal’s body was taken to Lal Bahadur Shastri hospital for an autopsy. His phone was sent for forensic examinations.
While Agarwal’s son stays in Dubai, his two daughters — one living in Indirapuram and another in Bulandshehr — have been informed.
