MUMBAI: A
traffic cop from
Mira-Bhayander who was in the forefront tackling the migrant exodus during lockdown succumbed to Covid-19.
This is the first death of a cop from the Mira-Bhayander region.
The officer was admitted to the Seven Hills hospital in Andheri.
The senior inspector was on duty on the highway at Kashimira handling migrants who were walking to get to their home states in
Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat, Rajasthan etc.
The death toll of cops in Maharashtra has touched 51. The number of
positive cases among cops in the state has crossed 4,000. Of these over a 1,000 are active cases.
