    Delhi govt revises COVID response plan: House-to-house screening by Jul 6, rigorous monitoring

    Completing house-to-house screening for coronavirus by July 6, admitting positive patients in highly dense area to care centres and CCTV or drone monitoring to prohibit movement inside containment zones are among the eight-point revised COVID-19 response plan issued by the Delhi government. The plans also state that highly suspected cases testing negative on Rapid Antigen Test should be examined again using the gold standard RT-PCR test.

    Authorities have planned to use Aarogya Setu app coupled with an IT-driven tool to boost surveillance and contact tracing in COVID-affected areas in Delhi and take preemptive action to check possible new hotspots.     The Cabinet on Wednesday approved the participation of the private sector in the entire range of space activities, including planetary exploration missions, Union minister Jitendra Singh said.     Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced that a campaign named 'Kill Corona' will be launched from July 1, under which members of every household in the state will be surveyed for coronavirus-like symptoms.     FY19 ITR filing deadline extended till July 31; PAN-Aadhaar linkage till March 2021

    • The government on Wednesday extended the deadline for filing income tax returns (ITR) for the 2018-19 fiscal by a month till July 31, 2020. The Centre has also extended the time limit for linking biometric Aadhaar with PAN till March 31, 2021.
    • The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) through a notification also extended the time limit for making various investments for claiming deductions under the I-T Act for the 2019-20 fiscal by a month till July 31, 2020.
    • The due date for filing ITR for FY2019-20 has already been extended till November 30, 2020.

    Supplementary learning material for students without digital access

    • The HRD Ministry directed the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) to prepare supplementary or alternative academic learning material for the entire curriculum for school students, especially for those without any form of digital or online access, in COVID-19 times.
    • Releasing the roadmap for the NCERT for 2020-21, the ministry directed it to work towards the implementation of learning outcomes for students from class 1 to 12.

    • The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has approved Facebook's deal to buy a 9.99% stake in Jio Platforms, the digital and telecom unit of Reliance Industries.

    Cooperative banks to be brought under RBI supervision

    The government on Wednesday said all cooperative banks and multi-state cooperative banks will come under the supervision of the Reserve Bank of India, a development aimed at providing comfort to depositors of these banks. Urban cooperative banks and multi-state cooperative banks will be brought under the RBI supervision process applicable to commercial banks, Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar said while briefing media about the Cabinet decisions.

    Ladakh orders ban on use of plastic water bottles in govt offices, other institutions

    As a step to realise the long term goal of 'carbon neutral Ladakh', the Union Territory administration has ordered a complete ban on the use of plastic water bottles and other plastic made objects in government offices and other institutions, an official spokesman said.
