NEW DELHI: Delhi Jal Board (DJB) has finished the engineering work to ensure clean water supply to the 10,000-bed Covid-care facility coming up in Radha Soami Satsang Beas ashram in Chhatarpur. DJB vice-chairperson Raghav Chadha visited the centre on Wednesday and said the hydrants to connect underground reservoirs in the ashram was installed.
"Clean Ganga water will be provided to all the patients and healthcare staff.
DJB will collect water samples five times a day and check its quality," Chadha said. The board has also appointed a nodal officer to ensure supply of water and related modalities in this upcoming facility.
"A DJB delegation led by myself inspected the water supply infrastructure and took stock of the engineering work. We have installed hydrants and augmented the underground reservoir facility through which clean water will be supplied to the ashram," Chadha said.
The capacity of the underground reservoir facility along with the installed hydrants will be 1,70,000 litres.
The DJB vice-chairperson said this was a first-of-its-kind venture where three partners were working together to build a Covid-care facility. "This centre is an example of partnership among Delhi government, which is carrying out all managerial, administrative and engineering work, the central government, which is providing medical personnel through ITBP and Radha Soami Satsang Beas for providing the facility and space," he added.
A large part of the facility is expected to be ready for use in the next two days. Chadha also requested the Union home ministry to roll back the new rules for the Covid-19 patients, following which now every patient will have to mandatorily visit a Covid-care centre for medical examination.
