NOIDA: Realtors’ association Naredco has said it will start handing over letters of appointment re-inducting workers at construction sites this week after the lockdown forced lakhs of them to return to their home districts. Naredco had earlier signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the UP government to provide employment to 2.5 lakh workers. An estimated 32 lakh migrant workers returned to UP during the course of the lockdown.
The re-induction of workers, selected on the basis of skill-mapping and an outreach by developers to various districts of UP, will begin at an official ceremony on June 26 in Noida that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief minister Yogi Adityanath will attend via video conference.

According to Naredco, the PM will virtually hand over letters of employment to two migrant workers, who returned to UP from Maharashtra. They will be employed at the Supernova project in Noida, Naredco-UP president R K Arora, also chairman of Supertech, the company building Supernova, said.
Over the next few weeks, Naredco claimed, 1 lakh workers would be employed at construction sites, primarily in Noida and Greater Noida. The real estate body has been operating a call centre to reach out to workers, inform them about work restarting at various projects and convince them to return. Most of the workers in the first group of 1 lakh are from Mirzapur (20,738), followed by 20, 343 from Siddharth Nagar and 16,043 from Deoria.
“We are firmly behind the Prime Minister’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and will lend all support to this cause. We are happy to announce we will be giving employment letters to workers on June 26 in presence of our Hon’ble Prime Minister and chief minister. These workers are ready to join us immediately and are going to work at different locations in the state. The entire 2.5 lakh workers will be inducted in various real estate projects in 2-3 months’ time,” a Naredco statement said.

The real estate body will submit a status report to the state government on the employment of workers. “We have sourced the workers from 63 districts of Uttar Pradesh and they are already being brought with the help of specially organised transport. Over the coming months, we will be able to place the full count of employments promised by us,” Arora said.
According to Naredco officials, UP relief commissioner handed over a list of 9 lakh workers to the association. “Many workers faced tough times due to joblessness due to Covid-19. To ensure they get work and earn their livelihood to support families back home, we have made a database of nearly 2.5 lakh labourers who will shortly get absorbed at construction sites. This will not only help workers but also the real estate developers in UP who need to speed up work at their projects,” Arora added.
