VIJAYAWADA: A man who underwent tests for coronavirus in Nuzvid and returned to his residence in Vijayawada, was shifted to a hospital in the city after he tested positive.

Nuzvid tahsildhar M Suresh Babu told The New Indian Express that the person was visiting his relatives in the town on Tuesday morning. As he was showing symptoms of cold, flu and fever, his relatives suggested that he get himself tested at the local government hospital.

Teams that collected his samples asked him to be in home isolation until the results came out.

However, the person left the town later in the evening. Results of his samples, which tested positive, came back the same night. The tahsildar added that the medical teams tried contacting the patient, but he had already left for Vijayawada.

A team of police personnel traced the person in Krishna Lanka and brought him to the Covid hospital, where he was kept in isolation, Suresh Babu said. Meanwhile, the health officials have identified the primary and secondary contacts of the patient.
