70-year-old doctor succumbs to coronavirus in Thane

A 70-year-old ENT surgeon from Thane's Mahagiri, Koliwada area, contracted coronavirus 10 days ago and died during treatment at a city-based hospital on Wednesday afternoon.

THANE: A 70-year-old ENT surgeon from Thane's Mahagiri, Koliwada area, contracted coronavirus 10 days ago and died during treatment at a city-based hospital on Wednesday afternoon.
The Thane chapter of the Indian Medical Association confirmed his death, though it was yet to be brought on civic records till late on Wednesday. He is survived by his dental surgeon daughter and son who is a bureaucrat.
His family said the surgeon had recently got a dental treatment done and fear he might have picked up the infection at the clinic.
His wife who had accompanied him tested asymptomatic positive too. "He had undergone a bypass last year," said Dr Santosh Kadam, secretary, IMA, Thane.
