In a bid to increase the irrigation capacity and help farmers of north Bihar and the Mithilanchal region, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday, June 24, took a stock of the Kamla weir in Madhubani district and directed the officials to chalk out a plan to convert it into a barrage.

A weir is a low dam or a small barrier constructed across a stream or river to increase the water level slightly on the upstream side.

Nitish Kumar along with Water Resources Minister Sanjay Kumar Jha, Chief Secretary Deepak Kumar and a host of other officials and engineers visited the weir built on Kamla river. Also, the Chief Minister inspected the Jaynagar and Naruvar embankments.
