Thane's Covid-19 care centres to get additional 1,000 beds

BHIWANDI-NIZAMPURA: Municipal commissioner Dr Pankaj Ashiya on Wednesday said the powerloom city would get an additional 1,000 beds for its Covid-19 care centres in three days. He said testing would be doubled to 300 samples a day by the weekend.
On a day the city recorded 93 new patients and five deaths, taking the total number of patients to 1,332 and the death toll to 88, Ashiya, who was transferred here from Thane on Saturday, said his four-step plan was more health facilities, stress on contact tracing, increased testing of suspected patients, and strict containment and surveillance.

In Panvel, a 100-bed care centre was coming up at Devanshi Inn hotel, Kalamboli.
