A 32-year-old vegetable shopkeeper has been arrested by Ulhasnagar crime unit in connection with the murder of a 70-year-old man last week.

ULHASNAGAR: A 32-year-old vegetable shopkeeper has been arrested by Ulhasnagar crime unit of Thane police in connection with the murder of a 70-year-old man here last week.
The arrested accused - Vitthal Dudheshia runs a vegetable shop in Ulhasnagar. Crime branch officials said deceased Shejumal Ramnani was engaged in money lending business and three months ago, he had given a loan of Rs 5,000 to Dudhesia.

Mahesh Tarde, senior police inspector of Ulhasnagar crime unit said, "Ramnani was demanding his money back, but Dudhesia did not have money due to the lockdown and hence planned to kill Ramnani".
Tarde said, "The accused on June 19 on pretext of returning the money took him to an isolated place near Bhiwandi where he strangulated him to death."
He further said with was no clue regarding the murderer as deceased had given loan to many people, police team checked several CCTV footages of many places across the city and zeroed in on Dudeshia who was caught in a camera while taking the deceased on his motorcycle, which led to his arrest.
