Death toll in UP, Bihar due to lightning climbs over 110

Revising the death toll in the state on Friday, June 26, due to lightning and thunderstorm on Thursday, June 25, the Bihar government said that the same is nearing the 100 mark. As per the data released by the Disaster Management Department in Patna, on Friday, June 26, the death toll in various districts in Bihar, climbed to 92, which on Thursday, stood at 85.

As of Friday, June 26, about 10 districts in the state are in the red zone and are predicted to have heavy to very heavy rains. These districts include, East Champaran, West Champaran, Gopalganj, Kishanganj, Purnia, Saharsa, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Supaul, Araria and Madhepura.

Meanwhile in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, at least 24 people lost their lives when they were struck by lightning on Thursday, June 25 while 12 were reported to be injured, the officials in Lucknow said.
