Covid-19: 150 more test positive in Kerala; total set to touch 4,000-mark

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The total number of positive cases in the state is all set to touch the 4,000-mark in a day or two, as 150 more Covid-19 cases were reported on Friday. The total number of cases now have become 3,876 of which 1846 are active cases.
Six CISF personnel and three army DSC canteen staff are among those infected in Kannur district. Two of the infected CISF personnel were on airport duty.
One more health worker got infected in Palakkad on Friday.
11 more got infected through contacts in the state of which five are from the state capital. Among the five, source of two cases could not be identified. The remaining three are the contacts of the auto driver who got infected in Manacaud.
Of the new cases, 91 people came from abroad and 48 people had come from other states. Among the other 11 contact cases, two are from Kollam and one each from Kottayam, Malappuram and Kannur.
Now ten districts in the state have over 100 active cases. Palakkad tops the chart with 237 Covid-19 positives, followed by Malappuram 191, Kollam 183, Pathanamthitta 177, Kannur 157, Alappuzha 154, Ernakulam 153, Thrissur 126, Kottayam 114 and Kasargod 105 cases.
Palakkad also recorded more number of cases on Friday with 23 positives followed by 21 from Alappuzha, 18 from Kottayam, 16 each from Kollam and Malappuram, 13 from Kannur, nine from Ernakulam, seven each from Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur and Kozhikode, five from Wayanad, four from Pathanamthitta and two each from Idukki and Kasaragod have been declared positive.

Among the 65 people who were tested negative, 18 patients are in Malappuram, 15 from Thrissur, 10 each in Kollam and Kozhikode, five from Idukki, two in Kottayam and one from Kannur. So far, 2,006 patients have been cured of Covid.
As many as 1,63,944 people are currently under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of these, 1,61,547 are under observation at their homes or institutional quarantine centres and 2,397 are isolated at hospitals. 312 persons were hospitalised today.
In the last 24 hours, 5,859 samples were tested. A total of 2,09,456 samples have been sent for testing and out of these, the results of 4,510 samples are expected. 43,032 samples were collected from priority groups such as health workers, guest workers, and those with high social contacts as part of sentinel surveillance and 41,569 samples were negative.
