Covid-19 tally crosses 21,000-mark in UP

The novel coronavirus tally for Uttar Pradesh crossed the 21,000 mark on Friday. With 762 new entries, the total reached 21,180. Cases continued to pour in from Gautam Budh Nagar and Ghaziabad where 132 and 89 new cases were reported.The two districts alone account for nearly 15% of the total cases in the state.

LUCKNOW: The novel coronavirus tally for Uttar Pradesh crossed the 21,000 mark on Friday. With 762 new entries, the total reached 21,180. Cases continued to pour in from Gautam Budh Nagar and Ghaziabad where 132 and 89 new cases were reported.The two districts alone account for nearly 15% of the total cases in the state.
“Of the total, 13,583 persons have recovered, while 6,730 or 30% are active cases,” said additional chief secretary, health and family welfare, Amit MohanPrasad.
In all, 464 recoveries were reported on Friday.
Prasad said that 19 Covid-19 deaths were also reported in 24 hours, taking the total of casualties to 630.
As per the medical bulletin, three deaths were reported in Meerut, while two each were recorded in Etawah and Sultanpur. One death each was reported in Agra, Lucknow, Kanpur Nagar, Ghaziabad, Firozabad, Basti, Siddharthnagar, Pratapgarh, Gonda, Bareilly, Hardoi and Farrukhabad, Prasad stated that over 6.42 lakh samples have, so far, been tested for Covid-19, of which a record of 19,387 samples were examined in 24 hours.
He said that tracking of the health status of migrant workers continued in the state. “ASHA workers have tracked over 18.69 lakh migrant workers and 1,643 of them were found symptomatic. Among those tested, 225 were found positive and are undergoing treatment,” he said.
He further said that the CM had directed officials to use Covid Care Fund for setting up testing laboratories in every district and has directed to start rapid antigen tests in the state as well.
The other districts with double digit entries included Lucknow (52), Meerut (45), Varanasi (27), Bulandshahr (27), Mathura(21), Prayagraj (22), Moradabad (18), Kanpur Nagar (17), Etawah (16), Chandauli (16), Aligarh (15), Agra (14), Hardoi (14), Mainpuri (14), Rampur (14), Gorakhpur (14), Unnao (12), Hathras (12), Mau (12) and Barabanki (11).
