35 iPhones stolen from Madurai service centre
MADURAI: As many as 35 Apple iPhones, worth around Rs 20 lakh, have been stolen from a service centre at Anna Nagar in Madurai city.
The Anna Nagar police on Saturday registered a case and are on the lookout for a service engineer, who is suspected to have been involved in the theft.
The incident took place in mid-March. Other staff members at the service centre, who came to know of the theft on March 17, checked CCTV footages on the same day.
They found Manoj, a service engineer, replacing the boxes containing new iPhones with empty boxes.
The incident was immediately taken to the notice of the Anna Nagar police, who took up an inquiry.
The crime police unit registered the theft in the community service registry in May and intensified inquiry.
An FIR was registered Saturday. The police are currently on the lookout for Manoj, who is absconding.
