KCR to lead delegation to PM Modi seeking Bharat Ratna for PV Narasimha Rao

Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao will lead a delegation to meet PM Modi and urge him to honour late PV Narasimha Rao with Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian award of the country. The state government has also proposed to urge the Centre to name Hyderabad Central University after PV Narasimha Rao, release a postal stamp and install his portrait in the Parliament.

KCR and other leaders paid rich tributes to PV Narasimha Rao at PV Gnana Bhoomi on Necklace Road in Hyderabad on Sunday.
HYDERABAD: Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will lead a delegation to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and urge him to honour late PV Narasimha Rao with Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian award of the country.
The state government has also proposed to urge the Centre to name Hyderabad Central University after PV Narasimha Rao (PVN Rao), release a postal stamp and install his portrait in the Parliament.

On its part, the Telangana government will install statues of PVN Rao in Telangana Bhavan in Delhi, Vangara, Warangal, Karimnagar and Hyderabad. The state government will build a grand memorial at PV Ganana Bhoomi on Necklace Road on the lines of the one built for former president late Abdul Kalam in Rameshwaram. Install his portrait in the state assembly.
The Telangana government will also republish his works, establish a research centre after his name in Kakatiya University, name Telugu Academy after him, publish books on his life and teachings, how to build a strong personality, give copies of it to all universities libraries for future generations to know about him.
The state government will also invite President Ramnath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, former presidents and prime ministers to the national-level conclave remembering PVN Rao and many more programmes to be held later during the year as part of centenary celebrations.
The Telangana government has released Rs 10 crore for the year-long centenary celebrations with KCR desiring to hold a grand valedictory of the centenary with one lakh gathering on June 28, 2021.

The larger than life cut-outs of PVN Rao have also been erected in five metro cities of Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai and Bengaluru to inform the people that Telangana state is celebrating the birth centenary of PVN Rao.
The chief minister along with ministers, leaders of Congress, CPI, other parties, family members of PVN Rao, his followers paid rich tributes to PV Narasimha Rao at PV Gnana Bhoomi on Necklace Road here on Sunday marking the commencement of the centenary birth celebrations of PV Narasimha Rao.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister in an apparent dig at the Congress for long ignoring PVN Rao, said though he did not wanted to politicise from this platform about the injustice done to PV Narasimha Rao, he called upon all the concerned to join with the him to fight and exert pressure on Modi-led government at the centre to recognise the outstanding contributions of PVN Rao in all sectors and give him the respect and place he deserves.
Terming him as a multi-faceted personality, a statesman and visionary, in a nutshell a 360-degrees personality, the chief minister drew parallels between PVN Rao and first prime minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru. PVN Rao can be compared on par with Nehru, he said. “Some people may feel bad about this comparison but as the people of Telangana, we need to respect our son of the soil and give him the respect and position he deserves. His life and teachings should be a role model for future generations of the to build a strong individual,” KCR said.
KCR showered praises on PVN Rao terming him as a continuous reformist and said all those who want to get associated with centenary celebrations can do so. The membership on the organizing committee of centenary celebrations headed by TRS MP K Keshava Rao will be kept open.
KCR along with ministers, family members of PVN Rao including his daughter Vani Rao and son PV Prabhakar Rao, Telangana Congress chief Uttam Reddy and others paid tribute to PVN Rao at P V Gnana Bhoomi on Necklace Road, marking commencement of year-long birth centenary celebrations of PVN Rao.
