KALYAN-DOMBIVLI: The Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) says it will add over 1,000 beds next month.
It said Dombivli will get one more hospital with 30 ICU and 170 oxygen beds for coronavirus-infected patients on July 1.
Kalyan MP Shrikant Shinde and municipal commissioner Dr Vijay Suryawanshi did a review visit of hospitals in Dombivli on Sunday. They said two more dedicated Covid-19 hospitals with 820 beds would be ready by July 15.
Suryawanshi said he had spoken to hospitals in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai for additional beds.
On Sunday, the city reported 367 new cases and six deaths, taking the case total to 5,678 and the death toll to 107.
The KDMC lodged a case against two mutton shop owners at the Kolsewadi police station for violating the alternate day scheme of operations.
In Ulhasnagar, where cases number over 1,600, trader and manufacturer associations decided to self-lockdown from July 1 to 7.
