Explain spike in covid cases if there\'s no community spread: MK Stalin to Palaniswamy

Stalin said that he had been giving a slew of advices to the government since the beginning of the epidemic as a responsible Oppn leader

DMK President M K Stalin warned Chief Minister Edappadi K Palanisamy against faking the eradication of Coronavirus in Tamil Nadu and trying to corner the glory for it and urged him to really eliminate the virus and then win laurels for it.

In a video speech to the public on Sunday, Stalin said that he had been giving a slew of advices to the government since the beginning of the epidemic as a responsible opposition leader and regretted that every bit of advice was ignored.

Listing the various advices he had given to the government on tackling the Covid-19 crisis at various points of time, Stalin said after turning a deaf ear to everything the Chief Minister had asked in Salem if the Opposition Leader had a single constructive advice for the government.

Stalin pointed out that he had raised a few questions to the Chief Minister on June 15 and had not received any reply for them.

The first question was ‘why were there such huge spike in Covid-19 cases if there was no community spread?’

The other questions were: ‘what was the action plan of the Chief Minister to prevent the spread of the virus in Chennai,’ ‘what happened to the report of the committee that went into the alleged cover up of 236 deaths,’ ‘why was the Chief Minister refusing to discuss with the opposition parties’ and ‘what was the economic plan of the Chief Minister.’

Responding to the charge of the Chief Minister that Stalin was the only person in India to play politics with an epidemic, he said: ‘Why should I play politics with the epidemic when we can play politics by speaking about the corrupt practices of the Chief Minister and his cabinet colleagues.’
