Social media is torn over Kylie Jenner’s ‘complicated’ instant ramen recipe: ‘Been doing this my whole life’

Yet another Kylie Jenner “recipe” is going viral on social media — and of course, social media has plenty of thoughts.

This time, it’s the 22-year-old’s method of preparing instant ramen, which many fans are criticizing as a direct rip-off of other commonly made dishes.

Kylie-style ramen has apparently fascinated the internet for years, but the trend has recently resurfaced on TikTok, where several users have begun posting clips of themselves trying out the recipe. One clip, posted by a user named Kaitlin Gates, has racked up nearly 2 million views.

Jenner’s version of the dish, which basically just involves adding a few extra ingredients — such as butter, an egg and garlic powder — to a standard package of instant ramen, provoked comments from many users who were confused as to how the cooking method counted as a recipe at all.

“My mom made me this since I was a toddler &’ taught me how to make it when I was ten. Yet Kylie gets credit for this,” one commenter wrote.

“Nahhhhh Kylie Jenner can NOT take the credit for this I’ve been doing this for years,” another added.

“Y’all act like kylie invented everything,” yet another user wrote.

Some noted that the additions essentially turned the ramen into egg drop soup, a Chinese dish made by beating eggs into chicken broth. Other users, meanwhile, were simply critical of the recipe itself, claiming that it wasn’t worth the extra work.

“Why do have to make ramen so complicated,” one user wrote.

“It has no flavor I just tried it,” another claimed.

Gates, who shared the recipe, was quick to note that she never meant to imply that Jenner invented the recipe — only that the Kylie Cosmetics founder has been tied to the method since it originally went viral a few years ago.

“I’m aware Kylie Jenner didn’t invent ramen guys,” she wrote in the comments.

Jenner, who has gained notoriety for her recipes and food hacks since she was a teenager, has had several of her cooking preferences go viral in the past few months. In May, for example, her French toast recipe took social media by storm, with fans calling the breakfast “genius.”
