HYDERABAD: A breach in a canal of the Kondapochammasagar reservoir in Siddipet district inundated a village early on Tuesday morning. The villagers of Shivar Venkatapur in Markur mandal were surprised when water flowed into their village like a river in spate around 7am.
The flooding destroyed vegetable cultivation in the village and also some of the fields, but as the villagers had not yet gone into the fields for agricultural work, they were not affected.
Villagers ran inside their homes even as the water entered their homes too. Officials who identified the spot where the breach occurred swung into action and took up immediate repairs to stop it.

The canal of Kondapochammasagar reservoir is intended to take water to Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district.
