Manchester City have today announced a new multi-year regional partnership with mobile game developer Capstone Games, who will become the club's Official Casual Mobile Game Partner in Asia Pacific, North America & the United Kingdom.

This adds to City's already significant esports and gaming presence, having announced a collaborative partnership with FaZe Clan, one of the biggest and most popular esports organisations in the world, back in September 2019.

The club also have two dedicated FIFA esports players in Shaun ‘Shellzz’ Springette and Ryan Pessoa, who represent club in major events around the world. City also have professional esports teams in China and South Korea, regularly representing the club in key FIFA tournaments worldwide.

Capstone Games will be using its expertise to develop a City-themed manager-style mobile game featuring players, kits and the Etihad Stadium. The game, which marks another entry in Capstone’s football series, will allow fans to test their managerial skills across various exciting competitions and gameplays. It will launch later in 2020 and will be available across all iOS and Android devices.

Omar Berrada, Chief Operating Officer for Manchester City, said: “We are thrilled to be working with Capstone Games who have a number of exciting plans in the pipeline.

"Manchester City has a strong digital-first strategy that applies to everything we do, so collaborating with an innovative partner like Capstone and engaging with their community of gamers is a great fit for us.”

Capstone Games published its first official game back in 2017 titled ‘Champions Manager Mobasaka’ and achieved more than two million downloads within the first year, with the company also releasing games titled 'CSL Manager Series' and 'Ultimate Football Club'.

The club's collaboration with FaZe Clain includes a shared training facility created by both FaZe Tass and Shellzz, the professional FIFA esports players from both organisations, limited-edition co-branded products, exclusive content, events and YouTube content.

Manchester City stars Sergio Aguero, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Georgia Stanway and Ellie Roebuck recently represented City on FIFA 20 in the first-ever City Football Group (CFG) EA SPORTS FIFA 20 challenge, which took place in June 13.

New York City FC, Melbourne City FC, Yokohama F. Marinos, Girona FC, Montevideo City Torque, Sichuan Jiuniu FC and Mumbai City FC all joined City in competing in a number of gaming challenges, whilst also giving the fans who are watching the opportunity to donate to their club’s chosen charity, supporting COVID19 recovery efforts in their local area.
