Karnataka reports 1,502 new Covid-19 cases, Bengaluru 889

Karnataka and Bengaluru on Thursday reported their highest-ever Covid-19 cases in a day — 1,502 and 889, respectively. The state has till day reported 18,016 cases and its capital 6,179.

BENGALURU: Karnataka and Bengaluru on Thursday reported their highest-ever Covid-19 cases in a day — 1,502 and 889, respectively. The state has till day reported 18,016 cases and its capital 6,179.
Of the 1,502 cases reported in the state, as many as 967 cases were neither exposed to Covid-19 cases nor had travel history. Their source of infection remains mysterious.
After his driver tested positive, health commissioner Pankaj Kumar Pandey said he had given his swab for testing.
“He has not travelled with me for the past 14 days. The driver was on leave for the past 7 days and resumed work yesterday,” he tweeted.
Following Wednesday’s en-masse resignation of 507 doctors working on contract, the health department has hiked their salaries from Rs 45,000 to Rs 60,000. The government has not regularised their services, one of the major demands. The doctors are expected to take a call on their resignations on Friday.
