Maharashtra: Man stabbed to death in Thane, one held

A 27-year-old man was arrested for allegedly stabbing to death a resident of Ulhasnagar township in Maharashtra's Thane district and injuring his two friends, police said on Friday.

THANE: A 27-year-old man was arrested for allegedly stabbing to death a resident of Ulhasnagar township in Maharashtra's Thane district and injuring his two friends, police said on Friday.
The incident occurred late on Thursday night at Madrasi Pada area of Ulhasnagar, police said.
The accused, identified as Rahul alias Kandi Valmiki, assaulted the victim- Wilson Jadhav (39)- and his two friends with a knife over some minor issue, a police official said.

"The victim died on the spot, while two of his friends- Avinash Naidu and Murugan Shetty- were severely injured in the attack. They are undergoing treatment at a hospital," Thane police spokesperson Sukhada Narkar said.
"While Rahul Valmiki has been arrested, police have launched a search for another accused, identified as Sachin Valmiki," she said.
A case has been registered against the accused duo under IPC sections 302 (murder), 307 (attempt to murder) and others, Narkar added.
