BHUBANESWAR: The state government on Friday capped the rate of
RT PCR Covid test at Rs 2200 in
private laboratories. These were charging Rs 4,000 to Rs 4,500 so far.
"After careful consideration, the government has been pleased to fix up the maximum price for RT PCR Covid-19 test by the ICMR approved private laboratories @Rs2200 (including GST and all other incidental charges) for private individuals desirous of testing," a notification issued by the health and family welfare department on Friday said.
Four private laboratories including the labs of
Apollo Hospitals,
SUM hospital,
InDNA Life Sciences Private Limited at KIIT and GenX Diagnostics Sahid Nagar have been conducting the tests.
The labs have to follow ICMR guidelines under supervision of the RMRC Bhubaneswar regarding the testing protocols, the notification issued by additional chief secretary (health) Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra said.
Many other states had already capped the prices between Rs 2000 to Rs 2500 after negotiating the prices with the private labs as advised by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
