MANGALURU: Karnataka has been demanding ban on import of silk from China to protect farmers of Ramanagara for many years ever since Siddaramaiah's tenure as the chief minister. However, the central government has made Indian software experts jobless by banning TikTok and other apps, said Mangaluru MLA UT Khader.
He urged that the central government should ban import of silk from China to protect the farmers of Karnataka, who are engaged in sericulture.
He also added that the central government should also show courage to ban the export of iron ore to China.
“China will suffer no loss by banning its apps in India. Only those companies that developed apps in China will lose a share of their profit. Meanwhile, many software experts working for those Chinese social networking and other service companies in India will be losing their jobs. Thousands of youths, especially engineers working there will lose jobs. What alternative arrangements did the central government make to rehabilitate them? Let the government clarify how the ban will affect China. Let the central government return the crores of rupees received from various Chinese companies towards PM CARES Fund,” Khader said.
Further, he questioned the central government over its silence on the export and import relationship with China.
“Why are they silent on import of silk from China and why is there no ban on export of iron ore from India. Former chief ministers Siddaramaiah, H D Kumaraswamy and the incumbent CM B S Yediyurappa have urged the central government to ban the import of silk from China. The silk produced in Ramanagara has its own significance when it comes to quality. Let the central government stop the import of silk from China if they have concern towards farmers. Similarly, they should also issue an order banning the export of iron ore from India,” he added.
