PRAYAGRAJ: Two sub-inspectors belonging to Prayagraj and Pratapgarh districts alongwith six other policemen were martyred in a shoot-out with gangster Vikas Dubey in Chaubeypur of Kanpur district late Thursday evening.
The family members of 48-year old martyred sub-inspector, Nibu Lal, were shocked as the news reached his ancestral village Bhiti in Handia tehsil of Prayagraj district on Friday morning.

They were inconsolable as scores of villages assembled at his house to offer condolences. His family later left for Kanpur.
Village pradhan Jai Chand told TOI that the martyred sub-inspector, who was the eldest among four brothers, had come to his native village about one and half months back.
He added, “One of the brothers of Martyr Nebu Lal is serving in UP Police and is currently posted at Varanasi. Nebu Lal along with his son was staying in Kanpur as he is preparing for medical entrance examination.”
The villagers said that Nebu Lal was recruited in police force in 1990 as a constable. He was posted in Kanpur in 2013. His wife Gyan Devi was staying in the village along with their two other children. The eldest daughter of the sub-inspector was married a few years back.

Deputy SP (Handia) told TOI that the body of the martyred sub-inspector was expected to reach his native village late night.
Meanwhile, a sub-inspector from neighbouring Pratapgarh’s Belkhari village was also martyred in Kanpur.
As the news of death of sub-inspector Anoop Kumar Singh reached his native village, the villagers assembled outside his house to pay tributes and console the family members. Senior police officials also rushed there.
His brother A K Singh said, “We could not believe in the news as we had spoken to him on Thursday evening. He had arrested four criminals in Kanpur on Thursday itself.”
