What's the team news?

Cardiff City might be without striker Robert Glatzel for the trip to Ashton Gate this weekend.

The Bluebirds front man sustained a nasty head injury last weekend and it looks as though he might not be well enough to take the field against the Robins, having sat out training following the draw with Charlton, in which he was substituted in the first half.

Albert Adomah, of course, has now gone back to Nottingham Forest so will not be available for selection.

Josh Murphy, however, looks to be in contention for a starting berth, having recovered from his calf injury setback.

Lee Tomlin, too, could be ready for his first start, while it is hoped that Danny Ward has recovered from his niggling injury which saw him miss the midweek's clash with the Addicks.

For the Robins, Niki Maenpaa will need to recover from an ankle problem sustained on Wednesday evening, though Daniel Bentley will continue in goal if the Finn cannot return, though the former Bee did nothing wrong on Wednesday and will have pushed his case to start in goal anyway.

Niclas Eliasson is recovering from Achilles tendernitis but should be available for this weekend. Jack Hunt was dropped for Wednesday's game but is fit to return if selected by Johnson.

Ashley Williams is suspended after a red card in midweek for violent conduct; four match ban beginning this week

Callum O'Dowda could be on the bench after starting the last two games.

What have the managers said?

Cardiff City manager Neil Harris: "It will be different. For me, the fan base, they make derby games. Of course there’s local rivalry and wanting to be better than your neighbour, or in this case across the water.

"It’s the rivalry on the terraces, and nowadays the banter on social media.I understand the importance of the game, not just for the fans, but for the league table. Bristol City have to beat us to catch us, that’s the reality.

"I think if we can take points off the teams around us, it’s a huge ask to close the gap.

"We have to do the business on the pitch, we did it against Leeds and Preston and did exceptionally well in spells against Charlton."

Bristol City manager Lee Johnson: "“First and foremost, I feel I need to apologise on the form over the period of eight or nine games but in terms of the performance today, that was a very, very good performance from us. We should have scored, we limited a good side who are now fourth in the league to nothing apart from one piece of quality.

“I am taking encouragement. People may sit there and say it’s no good because the result’s not there, but we can affect the performance.

“I don’t feel down because the performance warrants the next performance and we’ve built momentum tonight. I know results are the most important thing at this moment in time but that was our game. If that comes out for 96 minutes like it did today then we’ll have a chance.

“I still think we have a chance if we play like that in every one of our last six games.”
